Do you sometimes catch yourself complaining, about things that "happen to you" in your days or weeks, but never truly pause to evaluate how you can turn that complaint into a constructive solution?

Lori Oberbroeckling is on today's episode and we're diving straight into how complaint culture is negatively impacting moms from achieving their biggest dreams and goals.

Lori is committed to helping mothers achieve their professional goals while also ensuring that they are present and connected to their families. She recently published Secrets Of Super Mom, a book about how extraordinary moms succeed at working from home and how you can too. She's giving tips, techniques, and quick wins to moms who have a desire to both succeed professionally and within their family lives.

Here's the Breakdown:

8:23 - If you're miserable, or you’re exhausted, then let’s just pause, just think about it for just a second

14:41 - If you tell yourself, "I was kind of whining about that," you were probably complaining. Because those statements are not intended to solve a problem. They're simply pointing to a problem that they are intended to solve

16:22 - I’m going to vent this out, and then I’m going to start working on the solution.

17:30 - Consistent complaining actually physically changes your body composition. So, if your brain is thinking only about problems, it forgets how to actually make solutions.

23:29 - How do your (family/friends/co-workers/etc.) know what you need if you don’t communicate?

29:09 - Sit down and have that conversation with your spouse or partner.

Lori teaches us that whining is not a good habit to have. That it has an impact on us both physically and mentally, and that the most important thing you can do to get started on achieving your goals is to ask the right questions rather than complaining because whining accomplishes nothing.

Quotes

I believe we must remember that we now have the opportunity to pause and ask ourselves, "What do I really want to come back into my life?"

Complaining ends up creating more problems than it solves. So far, we've only spoken about the problem and we’re not getting anywhere.

Find a goal-oriented group. That attempts to achieve a goal, not cause a problem.
