Sometimes, you just can't get away from the people you grew up with. Maybe they're your coworkers, or maybe they're just friends of your family. Maybe they live right next door to you, or maybe they're back in college. Whatever the case, sometimes these relationships are hard to shake—even if they've changed over time and moved on from their days as primary caregivers when you were a kid. But how do you know if your connection is authentic?
When I talk about cultivating authentic connections with others, I'm talking about cultivating relationships that are based on mutual respect and support for each other's goals and values. The best kind of relationships take time and effort to cultivate—they aren't just one-sided, but instead happen naturally when people feel safe sharing things with each other that might not be easy for anyone else to hear. It's like building a relationship brick by brick: You start with small things like listening attentively and respecting what others say; then expand into sharing more personal information; next comes emotional support when someone needs it; finally comes an open invitation for deeper conversations about values.
In this podcast episode, we’ll talk about “Cultivating Authentic Connections in Life and Business” with special guest, Emily Siegel - a Friendship Mentor and Coach.
