Leila is a 22 year-old writer, comedian and producer. Having started her career straight from school at 17, she has written and produced content for MTV, Comedy Central, Channel 4 and the BBC. She produced series 22 and 23 of Radio 4 Extra's 'Newsjack', 'The Summer Comedy Festival with Sara Pascoe' for Radio 4, and hit Spotify-Original podcast 'Rose and Rosie: Parental Guidance'. As a writer, she has worked across many projects including BBC One's 'Tourist Trap' and BBC Sounds' 'The Leak'. Her newest creation, 'BAMESHOW', broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December to critical acclaim. She recently made her television stand-up comedy debut on BBC One's 'Stand Up Sesh'.
In this episode we discuss how the trauma of coming out led Leila to leave home at a young age, the fire under her arse that's driven her to burn bright on the UK comedy scene, having sex with men as a form of home-conversion therapy and why, as a gay, Iranian-Welsh woman in a deeply satisfying, long term relationship, she's done discussing the ins' and outs' of her sex life - except for when it comes to orgasms on this podcast. Thank goodness.
