A significant Clare heritage landmark is set to undergo a major conservation programme.

Killoo Church and its enclosed graveyard are one of the oldest Diocese of Killaloe and pre dates the well presereved abbeys of Clareabbey and Killone.

The project, which gets underway in late July, comes amid multiple concerns regarding the landmark's condition and will include the reinforcement of the church's walls, doorway and general features, the stammer vault within the church and the surrounding wall of the graveyard.

Secretary of Killoo Church Restoration Project, Gerard Lynch says the project needs to be put into action now before it's too late.
