What is democracy? For the vast majority of Chinese people, democracy naturally means that the people are the masters of the country. Unfortunately, the word democracy has been “registered” by Western countries, which has led to the fact that every time when it comes to the discussion of democracy worldwide, the general public opinion is totally based on Western discourse. In the eyes of most Westerners, democracy is a multi-party system and universal suffrage under the Western model.
