On August 21, 2015 Jon had a widow maker heart attack at work. He was shocked 5 times on the way to the hospital, two more times in the ER, the last of which brought him back to life. He was dead for over 20 minutes. They placed a stent in what is called the widow maker artery to open it up and induced a coma to save his brain. June 2016 he was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury, which happens when the brain doesn't get enough oxygen. He continues to have chronic headaches on a daily basis. Sometimes they can be debilitating.

He finds humor in his ability to speak about his experience of death and he tells us about the tools he has learned to manage his symptoms while living his 2nd life.
