"God helps those who help themselves"- UnBiblical Things That Christians Believe: Captivated For Christ Episode 11  

God helps those who help themselves right? After all, when we do our part, shouldn't God do his? While it is true that when we are working with God and we do our part, God will still do his, that doesn't mean that God only helps those who help themselves. You see, God wants to help us and he wants what is best for us, but that doesn't mean that he only helps those who help themselves. He always wants to helps us, but it doesn't always mean that if we do everything ourselves that he will. What do I mean by this, be sure to listen to the 11th episode of the "Captivated For Christ" podcast!

Why is this phrase is unbiblical? 
1. If all we did was help ourselves, then there would be no need for God's help! 
2. It's a statement of pride. 
3. It undermines God's power for God to provide for all of our needs. 

What is the Biblical truth? 
1. When we ask God for help, he will help us. (Psalm 34:4-6 NKJV) 
2. When we seek first God's kingdom and righteousness, he will provide for us. (Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV)
