A plan to create a Paid Family and Medical Leave program is progressing through both legislative bodies.  Senator Alice Mann, DFL-Edina, chief author of the Senate bill, joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to describe the proposed insurance plan. 

Recent efforts to legalize sports betting in Minnesota have fallen short.  Senator Jeremy Miller, R-Winona, joins Shannon to talk about a new proposal that he believes could garner bipartisan support.

Also in the program, highlights from the bill signing and Senate debate on House File 7, a new law that mandates Minnesota utilities reach one hundred percent carbon-free electricity production by 2040. Also, highlights from other recent bill signings for the CROWN Act, prohibiting discrimination based on natural hair texture or style, and to establish Juneteenth--June 19--as a state holiday.  Lastly, key Senate DFLers outline consumer protection proposals.
