The death of George Floyd has brought to the forefront policy efforts to address racial inequities and reform police practices.  Senator Jeff Hayden, who represents the area of Minneapolis where the death of George Floyd and subsequent protests occurred, joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to discuss economic equity and policing reform.

More than 80 percent of COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota have occurred in long-term care facilities.  Senator Karin Housley, Chair of the Senate Aging and Long-Term Care Committee, joins Shannon to outline her concerns about protecting the health of the elderly during the pandemic. 

Nearly $2.8 billion dollars in federal and state funds have been directed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.   As cases continue to occur in Minnesota, public officials wonder if more funds will be needed.   The Senate Finance Committee recently delved into the use of federal and state funds addressing the pandemic.
