THE GOOD

Monster is legit scary. It does things via animation that no other method can achieve - mauling, tearing, biting... you get the picture.

THE BAD

As in THE BEAST FROM THE 20,000 FATHOMS, the characters have trouble portraying the horrify stakes of the situation. These actors were not good at acting without a physical monster in front of them. The climax in Rome is cool but I wasn't 100% sold on the KING KONG cover version.

THE DOWNRIGHT CAMPY

I have seen few movie scenes as insane and memorable as the Ymir battling an elephant through the streets of Rome.

Classic. Stands the test of time. A real diamond in the rough when it comes to 1950s creature features. Completely worth your time!
