THE GOOD

Sincere, earnest performances. Genuinely funny moments. Pacing is quick, riveting. Never lags. Characters are distinct, strong. Awesome ending (a la JURASSIC PARK). I don’t watch a lot of movies from the ‘20s and it’s a fascinating time capsule of fashion, design and culture!

THE BAD

FX rough around the edges (almost Gumby-like animation). No sense of scale. Only woman is a scientist but that’s never actually expanded upon, only serving as love interest/damsel in distress.

THE DOWNRIGHT CAMPY

Wallace Beery - real Ahab vibes. The final shot is a stroke of genius.

Classic. Even if silent films aren’t your jam, give this one a try. It’s fast, action-packed and full of interesting characters! Stands the test of time.
