KEY TAKEAWAYS

Step 5 - Capability to scale

Using the ‘scale' system will help you build

Systems

Cash

Advance/innovate

Leadership and culture

Effectiveness

Systems

To scale you need to leverage people and systems, spending time on systemisation will help to optimise the process.      Always be improving your systems for efficiency and quality and ensure that you have access to a specialist if this is not your area of expertise.

Cash

Growth is cash hungry. Cash flow is particularly important when you are scaling a business.  Plan ahead and you will be able to see potential challenges and take action. Problems in business rarely arise from nowhere, you need to be planning 3, 6, 2 months ahead.

Advance

You've always got to be advancing or innovating. In business, everything is always changing

Impacting on your business and the relevance of your service or product.

To remain relevant and demand you need to be continually solving a problem or helping your customers to achieve a goal or aspiration.

Leadership and culture

Your culture is a combination of the  values,  beliefs, standards and behaviours

Customer service and the quality of the product are indicative of the culture of an organisation.

Culture is set from the top of a business through the actions and behaviours of senior leaders do they inspire, engage and empower?

Effectiveness

How you can improve personally should be a constant priority.

Blocking time and working on the things that really make a difference is key in the journey to improvement and growth.

Looking at an overview of your business and planning strategically enables you to map out the key things that will shift and move the business forward.

Step 6 - Action and accountability

Action

If you take action on the things that are going to make a difference everyday it will have a compounding effect. Focus each day on taking the actions that will move you further forward

What one move would have maximum leverage, maximum impact, maximum value?

Accountability

Find a mentor or someone who is going to hold you to account and agree on a timescale for achieving your goals.

Accountability increases the chance others can count on you to deliver and it also increases the chance for you to count on yourself and that alone brings confidence, courage and commitment.

BEST MOMENTS

‘Too many businesses are managed by only one metric – the amount of money in the bank'

‘Businesses that stay relevant look outside of their own ecosystem for inspiration and cues about trends'

‘Do your employees care about delighting the customer?'

‘Get this right and you can build a profitable business that exceeds your customer's expectations'
