3 Myths of Successful People They are more motivated than you

No way.

Have you even been listening to the podcast?!

One of my favorite books explains that "motivation is a frail and fickle friend." It only comes around once-in-awhile and if you're waiting for it, you're not going anywhere.

Successful people aren't more motivated, they pursue commitment instead! In other words, successful people act independently of their thoughts that are saying "It would be more fun to watch tv," or "I really don't feel like it today," or "I'll just do it tomorrow."

They just do what they know is right and good for them EVEN THOUGH, their mind is saying something else.

Soon, your thoughts will start to reflect your actions and you'll actually want to do those things that you previously procrastinated or didn't do altogether because they're hard. No one is saying these things aren't hard, but you can do it.

They say "Yes!" to everything

Uh-uh.

My goodness you'd probably fall right off the earth if you tried to do everything.
Remember Trina's episode??

You don't have time for that and neither do people you view as successful. What they (and you) can do is say yes to the opportunities that work toward their ideal future self, their goals, their mission statement.

Think about a business or campaign. There is usually a clearly defined mission statement that allows the decision makers to refer back to when they're in a tough situation and it guides them toward their answer.

You should have one for yourself too! Personally, professionally, etc. Where do you want to be in 2, 5, 10 year? Who do you want to be? Write it down! Refer back to it! Say "Yes!" to those opportunities that you believe align with your mission statement and say "No." to the things that don't. It's okay to say no!!

They know more than you

NOPE!

We're only human. We can't know everything and rarely do we know the majority of what we need to complete a task, project, or goal.

That's great! As humans, we're also capable of continuous learning and growth, which is the mark of a truly successful person.

Say "Yes!" to that thing that aligns with your personal or professional mission statement, apply what you do know, and for what you don't know, learn as you go! Ask for help, get online, and be relentless about acquiring the new skills you need to complete a task.

Major Takeaway?

YOU have every skill necessary to become a successful person in your own eyes. To me? You already are.
