Building a business can be a scary thing.

What business do I choose? Where do I start. How do I find a community that wants to buy my product? What if the world thinks the idea stinks? What makes a good business partner?

These are things that mull through my mind everyday, so I decided to spend some time talking to TJ Eaton, who is co-owner of the successful sunglasses company called Dicks Cottons.

They just launched the first ever sunglasses subscription model called “Shades Club” which had tremendous success on Kickstarter raising over 800% of their initial goal.

Among numerous other gems, I learned from his experience how important it is to find your governing values as early as possible.

Some of my favorite moments of our conversation include:

Living by the Five “F’s”
Business instincts learned from cutting lawns
How to protect yourself from social media
His morning routine
Visualization techniques
Three “gratitudes”
Creating the first ever subscription model for sunglasses
Why a subscription model?
What he would tell me about my own business endeavors
Building a community before the bank account
What makes for a great business partner
and more…

This was a fun one for me. I hope you enjoy the content as much as I did.
