In second grade Neil Sedaka’s teacher sent a note home suggesting he take piano lessons. His mother took a part time job in a department store to pay for a piano.  He ended up with a scholarship to Julliard School of Music. His song “Calendar Girl” came from seeing an old 1947 movie of the same name listed in “TV Guide.” We discussed his singing and song writing and ended up in an argument over his first hit record. 

Freddy Fender was a country/rock and roll musician known for his one hit “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.” This will be one of the shortest podcasts you’ll ever hear but it’s fun. I wondered how Freddy came up with his name Freddy Fender. He quickly told me.
