Gaia launched in December 2021 to create a milk that Mother Earth would be proud of and released the ‘hemp and oat m*lk’ and ‘hemp and coco m*lk’ in January 2022. These initial products are a result of Michael’s frustration with other plant-based milks, which always seem to compromise on sustainability (think damaging monocrops like soy, the volume of water needed to grow almonds, exploitation of workers for coconuts, etc.) As oat milk is currently the most popular option in the market, Gaia’s Farming Co. lent on the great qualities of oats while combining it with hemp to create a unique blend that is familiar to consumers. The barista-standard m*lk is also free from soy, dairy and gluten and contains no added sugar, colours, flavours, or preservatives.   Hemp is a sustainability gladiator. It sucks up four times the amount of carbon from the air than trees per acre, it can replenish soil between crop cycles, and it grows rapidly, without the need for pesticides. And that’s not all.   Hemp also possesses a rich nutritional profile. The seeds are rich in Omega 3 and 6 and contain all the essential amino acids for optimal human health.
