Bloody Elbow fight experts, Eddie Mercado & Dayne Fox, are here to breakdown the UFC 262 PPV event. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. (SPOILERS...)

Returning to the octagon for the main event, we had multiple UFC record-holder, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. who entered the bout the fave, with a remarkable 30-8 record, the most sub wins in UFC history at 14 & tied for the most finishes at 16. ‘Do Bronx’ has also received 17 post fight bonuses (including 11 POTN bonuses, the most in UFC history), & was currently ranked #3 in the LW division.

Oliveira was banging it out in this title fight against power striker & 3-time Bellator LW Champ, as well as winner of the Bellator Season 4 LW Tourney, Michael Chandler. Who was also now the #4 ranked LW since joining the UFC in his debut on Jan 24 of this year against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ entered the bout with an impressive, 22-5 record, on a 3-fight win streak against the likes of Hooker, Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw – which were all striking finishes around the 2-mins mark of the 1st Rd.

In the co-main event, we had another LW bout between fan favorite ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson & ‘Benny’ Beneil Dariush. Ferguson was coming off 2 losses to Oliveira & Gaethje in 2020, with a current 25-5 record, the well-rounded combat artist was ranked #5 in the division. Meanwhile, Dariush, a BJJ specialist from Iran, was on a 6-fight win streak, 5 finishes (3 of them subs). He was coming at this bout with an impressive 20-4 record. He did not disappoint, in what proved to be a dominating victory over ‘El Cucuy’ tonight.

Also on the card, we had a Flyweight bout between Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell & Rogério Bontorin, who put on an impressive performance to a unanimous decision victory over Schnell. In addition to that, we had a match-up between Women’s Flyweights, ‘Blonde Fighter’ Katlyn Chookagian & ‘Vivi’ Viviane Araujo. These bouts were preceded by our featured main card opener with a bizarre delayed reaction KO when Shane Burgos faced off with Edson Barboza for a FOTN show, & a 7-bout undercard well worth discussing.

Overall, this now 12-bout card saw 2 exhilarating 1st Rd finishes, 3 gnarly subs, 4 impressive KO/TKO’s - including our Title Fight, and 5 solid decisions - 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Charles Oliveira & Christos Giagos; FOTN honors went to Edson Barboza vs. Shane Burgos, in what many are calling a FOTY contention bout. What a night of fights we have to share with you...
