This weekend the UFC showcased a fight for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s vacated UFC Lightweight Championship Title. It was going to be an all out battle for the belt between fight veterans Charles Oliveira & Michael Chandler in the main event. The UFC 262 PPV event was broadcast from the Toyota Center, Houston, TX, with a full capacity live crowd.

Returning to the octagon for that main event, we had multiple UFC record-holder, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. He was entering the bout with a remarkable 30-8 record, with the most submission wins in the UFC history at 14, and tied for the most finishes at 16. ‘Do Bronx’ had also received 17 post fight bonuses (including 11 POTN bonuses, the most in UFC history), ranked #3 in the LW division. Oliveira was banging it out in this title fight against power striker & 3-time Bellator MMA LW Champion, as well as winner of the Bellator Season 4 LW Tournament, Michael Chandler. Who was the #4 ranked LW since joining the UFC in his debut on Jan 24 of this year against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ was entering the bout with his impressive, 22-5 record, on a 3-fight win streak against the likes of Hooker, Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw – which were all striking finishes around the 2-mins mark of the 1st Rd.

In the co-main event, we have another LW bout between fan favorite ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson & ‘Benny’ Beneil Dariush. Ferguson was coming off two losses to Oliveira & Gaethje in 2020, with a current 25-5 record, the well-rounded combat artist was ranked #5 in the division at this time. Meanwhile, Dariush, a BJJ specialist from Iran, was on a 6-fight win streak, 5 finishes (3 of them subs), making him the oddsmakers favorite here – despite carrying the rank of #9 in the division. He was coming at this bout with an impressive 20-4 record, having last lost to Alexander Hernandez at UFC 222, back in March of 2018.

These bouts will have been preceded by a FW bout taking place between Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell, with his 15-5 record, after defeating Tyson Nam in January by Split Decision, who was matched up against Rogério Bontorin, sporting a 16-3 record, coming off two losses during the last year. In addition to that, we had a match-up between Women’s Flyweights, ‘Blonde Fighter’ Katlyn Chookagian & ‘Vivi’ Viviane Araujo. Our featured main card opener was between Shane Burgos & Edson Barboza after an extensive 7-bout undercard. What a wild night full of fights we have to share with you!
