Trauma Recovery Yoga (T.R.Y.) is a socially conscious nonprofit organization that facilitates self-compassion and global healing through training individuals in the TRY method of yoga science. They aim to provide healing benefits to those that are suffering from the effects of trauma through self-regulation techniques that can be applied on and off of the mat. This approach modifies a typical studio class to adjust the parts that may be triggering to someone post-trauma. In this interview, I get to meet with the founder and creator of the TRY Method Joyce Bosen. We openly discuss her own traumas in her past that led her to create this method for herself, and how the practice came about.
Highlights:
-The evolution of Trauma Recovery Yoga
-Her own history of trauma and how it led her to develop this method that ultimately saved her life
-What parts of a studio yoga class could potentially be triggering to someone post-trauma and why
-How a TRY practice is different from a typical studio yoga class
-The methods and tools that make up the TRY method
-Who can be trained in this method to teach it on their own
-What you can expect to learn in a TRY training (next one coming up is on 9/12/2020!!)
