Hey Heal Squad, for you or anyone else you know suffering from disease, particularly cancer, this is a must episode to tune into. Over 20 years ago, Kris Carr discovered she had over 20 tumors and stage four cancer. If you know anything about cancer, you know there is no stage five. Yet, Kris is still here with us to share her healing journey, which I hope can be yours. Kris struggled with issues of perfectionism, shame, control and a host of other emotions familiar to many of us, which she, without coincidence, learned how to manage. These two parts were so rich in takeaways that I've already invited her back.

Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis: Tumors in her liver and lungs at age 31.

View your health as a business: replace people (doctors) if they are not performing just like in a business.

Watch and wait, watch and live: let cancer make the first move while Kris chooses to watch and live.

Find collaborative doctors: research, network, be willing to travel, and have an advocate go to meetings with you.

Feeding my soul with nutrition: I need to control something and I can control what I put in my mouth: whole foods, plant-based foods and foods that make me feel better.

It's not just about what you're eating: It's also about what's eating you.

Manage fear and anxiety: make peace with this journey to do so.

It's not about perfection: it's about being mindful

Anxiety loops: developing a new muscle in your brain to get back to the present when negative stories and anxiety loops enter.

Getting past perfection: lower the bar and know you'll have setbacks.

Stay in awareness: when more aware and in tune with self, you can say this behavior is not serving my highest good, 'this is not how I want to feel...this is not serving me...'

Be okay with a B+: no one is really going to know the difference

Something has to give: eventually, your body will give out and you will pass before your time per physics.

Control is a trauma response: it's not something that happened to you; it happened inside of you.

The whole journey of being a human: dealing with uncertainty

If I get sick then I'll make the changes: the dangers under this form of thinking.

How I got the cancer is NOT the question: asking leads to blame things, including ourselves. It's more about the now. What do I do now to help myself.

Silver linings? Do not blame yourself whether you see cancer as a gift or not.

The power of 'I quit': after her ten-year check-up when not being cured, Kris says 'I quit' to try to cure herself instead of trying to heal.

We can always be healing: embrace that sentiment.

Be thoughtful of who to spend time with: for those who don't 'get it', they are not your teachers. You are more likely their teachers.
