In this episode of the Better Presentations More Sales podcast host Trevor Lee shares the three key things you really need to get right if you are to deliver a successful key presentation, whether that key presentation is to prospective client, an existing client, colleagues or investors.

So here are the three key things to get right:

Purpose – every presentation has to have a purpose – why are you presenting? What you want the outcome today? What you want the next steps to be? – Without really understanding what your purposes is very hard to actually construct and ultimately deliver a presentation of the some reason the vast majority of presenters overlook a purpose, especially when the presentation is put together by people in the marketing department who want briefed on what the outcome is hoping to be.

Content and Structure – how many times do you see a presentation, maybe how many times have you delivered a presentation where the content starts off all about the presenter and the presenter's company. So just how interesting is that for your audience? Not very I would suggest! Chances are that as you have been asked to present or pitch your audience knows all about you so let's make sure that all content and structure is all about the audience, whether that is a prospective client, investor or event audience. It's not about you it's about them!

Delivery – presentations need to be delivered in a way that engages, educates, enthuses and to a degree entertains the audience receiving it. Presenters often forget how important the style of delivery is. Ask yourself do you actually need slides to deliver your message? Make sure that your presentation is delivered with some passion, enthusiasm and at a variable pace and time, which is particularly important when you are delivering online.
