1. Luke 16-29-31 -NKJV- -29 Abraham said to him, -'They have Moses and the prophets- let them hear them.'- -30 And he said, 'No, father Abraham- but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' -31 But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' - --2. Many not understanding the matter of the gospel will pitch their tent on the Law. But the gospel is not the Law. The Law is not the same as Christ. The Law was only a cheerleader of Christ, a servant of Christ who is the bridegroom and when Christ appears-it has to decrease-as John the Baptist had to decrease by being beheaded.--3. In the story of Lazarus and the rich man the Lord worked the testimony of righteousness-two paths that lead to different destinations -salvation or condemnation-. The path of the pharisees who trusted in themselves that they were righteous because of their law keeping and going to Hell-and their testimony represented by the rich man.--4. And the path of Lazarus-who was a poor beggar-who had nothing to offer for his own food, but to eat only of the crumbs. And the profile of Lazarus had 5 things mentioned about him that spoke to him as a recipient of grace. And unless one finds and sees themselves as a beggar, they will not see life and many are still proud and think they will please God by their own efforts at law keeping.--5. The Lord then worked the hermeneutics of reading the Law and the Prophets by the testimony of Abraham. The Lord said-the Law and the Prophets if read with a gospel and Christ centered hermeneutic should lead one to the true knowledge of God's way of righteousness.
