CC # 86 The Young Prophet-the death of the Man of God 1 Judges 13

1. The story of the young prophet and the old prophet is a well-known story-the story of a young prophet from Judah who was sent of God to cry out at the sins of apostate Israel under Jeroboam the king.--2. The young prophet from Judah goes there under instruction from God that he was not to eat nor drink in this place and had to use a different route even as he was trekking back to Judah.--3. He was only successful in the first part of the journey as he refused the invitation home by the wicked king-Jeroboam to go and dine and also to receive a gift.--4. But as he was going back home-news of his exploits had also reached the Old Prophet who lived there in Bethel.--5. The Old Prophet treks after the young prophet and finds him resting under an oak tree and tells him -lies- that an angel had come and told him that it was OK for the young prophet to come and eat at his house.--6. The young prophet agrees to go with the Prophet and just as he was eating-the word of the Lord comes to the Old Prophet to condemn the young prophet.--7. As the young prophet is headed out-a lion is dispatched by God to kill him and the news goes around and gets to the Old Prophet who comes and gets him and buries him.--8. The Old Prophet then leaves instructions to his sons that he too should be buried together in the same tomb as the young prophet.--9. And in this message, I worked the details of the story and expounded the testimony of Christ in it. -10.
