Margaux Murphy, Director of The Sunday Love Project returns to BEN Around Philly to talk about her latest venture, Sharing Love. Margaux is joined by Lauren Hooks, Partner and Chef at Sunday Love Project, as well as Evan Ehlers, Founder and Executive Director of Sharing Excess. Sunday Love Project is currently serving around 3,000 meals a week to people all over Philadelphia experiencing food insecurity. The Sunday Love Project team is known not only for the meals that they serve, but for the community they’ve built among the people that they serve, and the trust that they've created within that community. It’s easy to see how they’ve earned the word ‘LOVE’ in their name.

Sunday Love Project receives food donations through their partnership with Even Ehlers and his Sharing Excess organization. Sharing Excess is a student-run organization committed to re-purposing food waste. The group's network of drivers connects with grocery stores and restaurants to deliver healthy food excess to communities in need, rapidly. Sharing Excess has delivered more than 230,000 meals since launching in 2018 and has been working to get food excess into the hands of Sunday Love’s team of volunteer cooks and food package assemblers.

In some very exciting news, the two organizations: Sunday Love Project and Sharing Excess, have combined efforts and resources to partner to create Sharing Love - a new temporary community hub, offering a twice weekly hot meal service and grocery box takeaway on South Street. The hub is located at 514 South Street, in a generously gifted space by Counter Culture. As an arts and events space, with no events happening at the moment, Counter Culture has opened up their space to allow Sharing Love to operate out of this unique and opportune spot.

Food donations, monetary donations, hard working volunteers, as well as many small gestures like writing notes of inspiration and positivity to include with the meals, help Sharing Love to do just that, ‘share the love’ with the people they serve. If you would like to write one liner ‘love notes’ or make drawings to be included in meal boxes, or have gift cards or extra food to donate, please find more information at www.Sharing-Love.org.
