With no events or shows going on in Philadelphia, the Philly Pops have been keeping busy bringing their program POPS In Schools to students and parents alike… in their homes. The POPS In Schools@Home program is online, and available to anyone, for free. Learn more about it as Kristen speaks to the Education and Community Engagement Director for the Philly Pops, Gilberto Vega who has created and built this virtual curriculum for free music education at home.

Students (and their parents) can view instructional videos and download activities that introduce them to the fundamentals of music, including the beginnings of violin instruction and learning to make percussion instruments at home. These programs are sorted by grade level, but everyone is invited to join this virtual classroom. These videos feature the sounds of student musicians who have participated in POPS in Schools to see how far they’ve come. Watch videos where Philly Pops musicians talk about the iconic artists and musical moments that inspire them and made them who they are today. The School District of Philadelphia has added POPS in Schools@Home content to its Google Classroom, making it available to all students and teachers during this interruption. This makes our program available to more than 200,000 students!
