Sean Anders, Director/Co-Writer of INSTANT FAMILY and BEAUTIFUL BOY's Nik Sheff

This week, Kristen had the opportunity to screen two films hitting the theaters this fall. The first, Instant Family, starring Mark Walhberg and Rose Byrne. It's about a couple who fosters and then adopts not one child, but three siblings.. which was not exactly the plan (at first). It's a super funny and also touching look at famililes and was a joy to watch. Listen as Kristen interviews Sean Anders, who co-wrote and directed the film, which is based on his own experience when he and his wife adopted three siblings. 

Then Kristen speaks with Nik Sheff, who wrote a memoir called Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines. His father David Sheff wrote his own memoir called Beautiful Boy about the family, their love of Nik and their struggle with his addiction. There is now a film, also named Beautiful Boy, based on the real life stories of both father (played by Steve Carell) and son (played by Timothée Chalamet). Kristen saw the film and really enjoyed it, although it did bring her to tears. It's a sad story at times, yet a hopeful look at addiction and the love of family. Kristen speaks with Nik about the books, his family, rehab facilities, the new movie (in theaters now!), and his incredible accomplishment of 8 years sober.
