Brandi M Carney, LCSW, joined Northwell's Unified Behavioral Health Center for military, Veterans, and their families in December of 2021. Prior to that time, she spent 25 years at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Ms. Carney served in a multitude of capacities within the VA, including inpatient units, Emergency Room Admissions Coordinator, Home Care, Outpatient Mental Health, and her final role serving 10 1/2 years as Northport's post 9/11 Caregiver Support Program Coordinator. Ms.Carney also served as a VISN 2 lead for the VA’s New York/New Jersey healthcare network. 

 

Brandi received her Master's degree in Social Work from The State University of New York at Stony Brook, with a concentration in loss and recovery. She has served on the Red Cross mental health disaster team since 2001, deploying to the Family Assistance Center immediately following the events of 9/11. She has presented at the Red Cross’ national mental health conference as well as the National Conference for the National Association for Social Work. 

 

Ms Carney teaches Veteran and Military Culture at Touro’s Graduate School of Social Work in New York City. She's regularly engaged in community outreach efforts as well as volunteering within many military organizations throughout New York .Ms Carney is trained in cognitive processing therapy, unified protocols for children and adolescents, EFT, and Transcendental Meditation.
