The most dangerous section of Chicago goes by one name: O’Block. On one side sits a sprawling behemoth known as Parkway Gardens, a low-income apartment complex. On the other, a string of businesses. This stretch of the city located on South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive has quite the history behind it – in fact, it was once even the home of Michelle Obama – but for the most part, this neighborhood’s past is steeped in darkness.
