Today is the final week of my Season if Rest. I have used this transitional month... The month that takes us from summer into fall... Where the weather changes so drastically from hazy, hot & humid to cool, breezy... When the days become much shorter and the nights so very much longer... To make some little changes to my daily routine that will help me to cope with the hectic Holiday season around the corner, and to help manage my Season Affective Disorder (SAD) that hits pretty hard around the beginning of the new year. It's a real issue that many people struggle with that causes anxiety, depression and a decreased sense of self. By adding a few minutes of meditation and yoga stretches to the start of my day, and a few minutes of relaxation breathing, a walk or some light exercises to my evening routine I have found that I can start the day in a better space emotionally and mentally and that I am able to relax and let go of the stress of the day, which leads to a better night's sleep. All the problems may not go away, the stress is still there, the doubts and fears ... But I have found that I am able to manage them in a healthier way when I am emotionally and mentally in a better place. My hope is that you will find that making a few small changes sets you up for a happier and healthier you as we go into the next season of life!
