It's another Real Talk Tuesday and today I talk about some of the amazing people I have met over the years as a nurse.

I worked in hospitals, nursing homes and doctor's offices and as a home care nurse...

I worked with newborns and the elderly. I saw lives coming into the world,

and lives as they left this world.

I spent many nights with alzheimers and dementia patients who were reliving happy, sad, terrifying times in their lives...

And all I could do was hold them as they cried, join them in their inner world, listen and learn from the stories they told, the experiences they relived, night after night, after night.

My hope is that by talking about them, their stories, their lives and experiences...

Some of their wisdom, the lessons they learned, the strength and faith and will to survive against all odds will be remembered...

Passed on the future generations.

And perhaps, make you curious to know your family's stories, to remember what your grandma or great uncle told you...

In hopes that you will honor them, their lives, by passing their stories on to future generations.

That you will keep your family's history alive...

because history is really just his story and her story and their story...

passed down from one generation to the next , and the next, and the next...
