Back in 2014, Elora Brewing Co. opened its doors in a small town northwest of Toronto (Elora, if you didn't guess). Since the beginning, they've been ahead of the curve, producing one of the first readily available (via distribution) NEIPAs back in 2017. We've been fans since we cracked our first bottle of Elora Borealis, their NE Pale Ale, and while we've never had the chance to visit the brewery, hanging with co-founder Jonathan Laurencic and Head Brewer Dave Rozell Soehner (affectionately known as Lager Dave) virtually was the next best thing.
Over 3+ hours, we talked about their history in detail (Jon shared hilarious stories about their challenging beginning along with his European inspirations), their brewing techniques, Dave's focus on lagers, how they were able to get on top of the haze craze before most other Ontario breweries, snowing in Elora in May, their COVID pivot and a lot more. We crushed their Original Draft Lager, Elora Borealis Pale Ale, Shine NEIPA and Lodestar Plum fruited sour. This was super fun, get it in ya!
