Full Calendar or Absent Parent?

Men are programmed to find value in themselves through success, money and power. It’s hard to be in the moment.  If he can’t sit with himself then how is he supposed to sit with his family? 

I have been conflicted lately about travel and parenting. This past year I think I spent more time in the air than on the ground. The kids are in school, so they couldn’t really come along for the ride. But that is where my inner conflict arises. 

Woman deal with this during child birth. Take time off your career to raise kids. You feel guilty that you’re not working on your career. You go back to work, and you feel guilty for abandoning your kids. 

How do you find a balance where you can optimize your time with them before they grow into gross teenagers?
