Aqua Dots: The Toy that was Recalled for Containing a Date Rape Drug - Bad Ideas Minisode

Aqua Dots (also known as Bindeez) was a toy bead that was accidentally coated with a chemical that synthesizes into something called GHB, a sedative commonly used as a date rape drug. The Chinese factory that manufactured the beads for the Australia-based Moose Enterprise toy company swapped out the safe chemical 1,5 pentanediol for the less expensive but far more dangerous 1,4 butanediol. Naturally some kids put the beads in their mouths, and several became dangerously ill.
