The fact that there are differences in Milwaukee is not a bad thing, it’s a positive thing. But the fact that there’s not that much communication between races in this city, I think is a bad thing.

For part two of our series, I talked with Tommy Walls Jr., who went to high school at Montessori High School in Milwaukee, and is now pursuing a career in social welfare and social justice at Marquette University.

Tommy is working hard to prove wrong some of the perceptions about young black men in Milwaukee, and we discussed his path to Marquette and his motivation to succeed.

We also discussed different preconceptions and assumptions about different neighborhoods, talked about certain realities of Milwaukee being America’s most segregated city and looked at possible resolutions to these problems that must be addressed.
