The subject may be mature, but we aren’t.



The subject of violent video games has been a recurring issue in the general press. “Won’t somebody think of the children?” We’re not saying that’s illegitimate. But, as ever, it’s a little more complicated than that.


So – what place does violence have in adventure games? I mean, clearly it would be difficult to make a first person shooter without at least mild wounding. But should it be possible in an office simulator to kill Janice with a thousand paper cuts?


We’ll discuss the depiction of blood and gore in adventure games, as well as the violence itself. And I’m sure you guys can think of examples we didn’t cover. E-mail Fred if you come up with any good ones.

With Fred hungover, and Gareth knackered, the conversation runs a little longer than originally planned. But it’s a deep subject, and worth covering in some sort of depth – or at least rambling about for 61 minutes.
