Peray Ahmet has very recently been elected as the leader of Labour-run Haringey council. Of Cypriot heritage, Peray is the second Turkish Cypriot woman to be elected as a council leader in North London, following hot on the heels of Nesil Caliskan (Enfield), who listeners will remember from the first series.
