Hosted by Marco Ciappelli | Audio Signals Podcast is repositioning its antennas!

Formerly hosted by both ITSPmagazine's Co-Founders Marco Ciappelli and Sean Martin as a way to venture away from The Intersection Of Technology, Cybersecurity, and Society and discover other stories worth to be told, Marco is now hosting the show and decided to focus not just on the stories, but on the storytellers.

A few words from the host:

"I am Marco Ciappelli, the host of the Audio Signal podcast. I am excited to announce a new direction for our show: from now on, we will focus on storytelling in all its diverse forms.

Storytelling is at the core of our human societal experience. It is how we transmit knowledge, share experiences, and communicate our values. Stories are more than just narratives - they are bridges that connect us, shaping our worldview and identity. They are the threads that weave together the fabric of our collective consciousness, revealing the complexity and richness of the human condition.

In our modern, hybrid analog-digital society, the art of storytelling holds even greater importance. As technology brings us closer together, stories have the power to break down barriers, foster understanding, and build a sense of shared human experience in an increasingly interconnected world.

Whether you are authors, screenwriters, filmmakers, directors, poets, playwrights, oral storytellers, songwriters, musicians, journalists, documentarians, comedians, graphic novelists, comic book writers, podcasters, video game designers, dancers, choreographers, etc. - each one of you contributes to this grand tapestry of human experience. Through your chosen medium, you articulate narratives that provoke thought, inspire, entertain, and illuminate the myriad corners of our existence.

So, in recognizing this, I am repositioning our antennas and shifting our Podcast to spotlight the fantastic storytelling universe, focusing on the storytellers themselves.

I invite you to join me on this journey to share your passion, craft, and the stories that truly make us human. Let's continue the timeless tradition of storytelling together in this new, evolving digital era.

If you would like to be on the show, please submit a request, and hopefully, you will be on the show to share your narratives with our audience!

Over now!

Book | The Ethics Of Surveillance: An Introduction | An Audio Signals Conversation With The Author Kevin Macnish

April 14, 2021 04:24 - 40 minutes - 37.1 MB

Is there such a thing as human morality that can help us distinguish between good and evil. Or, is it influenced by cultures? Nowadays, we talk quite a bit about ethics because technology amplifies the issue: AI, algorithms, privacy, security, and surveillance. The meaning of life? Bathing at the beach naked or fully dressed? Was Big Brother right or wrong in 1984? How can a personal assistant do its job and respect privacy? Where do we draw a line between safety and privacy? We discuss th...

Book | Uncaring: How The Culture Of Medicine Kills Doctors And Patients. How Tech Can Help | An Audio Signals Conversation With Dr. Robert M. Pearl

April 04, 2021 04:07 - 35 minutes - 32.2 MB

How good of a dish are you going to get when you use bad ingredients? Are you going to blame the recipe? Some people would, and by doing so, they would keep baking bad cooks and blaming the recipe for it. Algorithms work the same. You give AI bad data, you get bad results. The metaphor works well until you realize that, when you end up with a lousy meal, you can throw it in the trash and order from a restaurant and get a new meal. But when the algorithm is fed bad data, and that is supposed...

Book | Cult Of The Dead Cow: How The Original Hacking Supergroup Might Just Save The World | An Audio Signals Conversation With Joseph Menn

March 27, 2021 04:01 - 40 minutes - 37.1 MB

Let's face it, hacking got a bad reputation—it has been in the making for over 30 years, it got worse, and we have to change that. Humans want to have it simple; they want to define things as bad or good, white or black, heaven or hell—but there is so much more in between. ITSPmagazine has always taken a firm stand on the differentiation between hackers and cybercriminals. It sides with the curious minds that invent, improve, question, discover, reject the status quo, and embrace equality, ...

Who hasn't heard grandparents say something like: back in my days, life was simpler, better, safer. That's probably—kinda—true. But as time goes by, looking back, even one generation has to take into consideration the technology variable. It is all another story—this one, to be exact. In this Audio Signals episode, we talk with Sonia Livingstone, a professor in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Sonia has published 20 books o...

February 25, 2021 04:38 - 41 minutes - 38 MB

Imagine you could experience worlds that you design and build the way you want them to be; alternative realities that you can enter and leave as you wish. Now, imagine there's no countries, nothing to kill or die for... imagine all the people, livin' life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. Certainly not the only one.  There are — and there have always been — brilliant minds that dream and work very hard to make wishes come true.  The advancement of our knowled...

Nostalgia is not as good as it used to be. 😬  Each generation talks about the "good ole days" and how life was simpler, better; even the toys were so much simpler and more fun back then. From manual to mechanical; kinetic to electronic; analog to digital; calculator to a personal computer; telephone to the Internet — "real" reality to virtual and augmented versions, human intelligence to artificial intelligence  —  and everything in between, and b...

We often feel the need to clarify the real meaning of marketing terms floating around technology and cybersecurity. We believe in sharing knowledge and educate people instead of fooling and luring them with blinking lights. Today we go back to terms we have discussed in the past and see if we have made any progress in the way we present them to the general public:  artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). In today's episode, nearly four years later, we invited Scott Scheferma...
