Today’s guest is Jonathan K. DeYoe who is a California-based financial adviser and a longtime Buddhist practitioner.

By listening in, you’ll learn:

-The 3 critical decisions Jonathan had to make to get his life back on track.

-The connection between happiness and money.

-Considerations for anyone looking to work with a financial advisor.

-How to create more peace of mind when it comes to money and investing.

Jonathan spent his first six of twenty years as a financial adviser working for Wall Street firms. Seeking to create a more independent platform, he started DeYoe Wealth Management with 6 clients in 2002. Today, the firm manages nearly $300 million for just over two hundred families and non-profits. He says, “I do my best face-to-face work in that place of hope for a better future, where love and money overlap.”

Jonathan started HappinessDividend.com as a way to provide his brand of behavioral wealth education and advice to a broader audience through a digital platform. There is a ton of free content, worksheets, videos, and e-classes. There are also planning and aggregation tools for the DIY crowd and a digital advisor that marries Jonathan’s management process with YOUR portfolio philosophy (Low-Cost; Outperform; or Social Responsibility).

Perhaps most importantly, Jonathan keeps a long-term perspective that is missing from the day to day market and economic data. He writes and speaks regularly in an effort to reduce the noise and bring a calming influence to the craze of financial media. His written work can be found in Business Insider, Huffington Post, Yahoo! Finance, SF Business Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Motley Fool, NerdWallet, and MindBodyGreen. He speaks regularly at Universities and Conferences, corporate all-hands meetings and non-profits fundraisers.

His twin goals are to help busy people lead more meaningful lives and to spread the benefits of regular mindfulness practice for both well-being and better financial outcomes.

Jonathan lives in Berkeley with his wife and two children. His book, Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Reaching Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend is available in local book stores and, of course, on Amazon.
