This week we’re seeing that the Jesus of so-called “progressive” Christianity isn’t the real Jesus. He’s a Jesus made in people’s own image.


The progressive Jesus is all about love. He doesn’t tell sinners to repent or condemn anyone or anyone’s behavior. Instead, the progressive Jesus loves everyone and approves of everything they do.


But the biblical Jesus—the real historical Jesus—called people to repentance. He recognized sin for what it was—rebellion against God—and called people to turn from it. Jesus’ ministry wasn’t all about loving and accepting everyone. He came to die for sin and calls us to repentance.
