How to Reduce Stress Fracture Risk

"Because of this, lower body stress fractures are a common injury among runners, representing 20% of all running related injuries."

This number seems crazy! I have been in the endurance game since 1979 and I can count on my one hand the number of athletes I know that actually had a stress fracture. I do not even recall that many well know athletes having one either.

Almost all the ones I knew had dietary issues aka were not eating properly for good bone health. Most of the eating issues were because they were not eating. So they weakened their bones and then trained too hard ...

Many of these athletes sadly repeated this cycle.

Not sure why this was left out of the article but there are some good points in this article:

A comprehensive program to prevent or recover from a stress fracture injury should include the following elements:

Resistance Training
Muscular Endurance Training
Hip Stability Training
Gait Retraining
