Hoping to become a school superintendent?  Currently teaching, but looking to move into a role in administration?  Want ideas on how to better serve the youth in your community?

Today's podcast is with Sue Austin, assistant superintendent at MSAD 60.  Sue started her career working as an education tech at the Odyssey House, moved into teaching which eventually led to her current position.  She tells our listeners just how she did that and offers tips for anyone out there that has the same goal.

Sue is also the Director of The Ryan Home Project which works to help house displaced teens in her district.  She talks about why she and others started this project and how she hopes it can become a model for other districts to implement as the number of teens without a place to sleep each night is alarming.

Sue has always loved horses and she turned that love several years ago into a business, Lucky Clover Stables, where she boards, gives lessons, puts on shows and provides summer camps.  She talks about her business and how she really would like to move into using her horses for therapy as the healing benefits horses can have on people are amazing.

We could not miss talking to Sue about her family business, Shain's of Maine Ice Cream.  Anyone familiar with this brand can tell you how amazing it is!

Clearly, Sue has a lot going on, but once you meet her, you can understand how she does it...she is compassionate, smart, seemingly has endless energy and mostly, she just loves what she does and it comes through in her words and actions. Her community is lucky to have her!

No matter what you career interests may be, it is always great to listen to someone so inspiring.  Enjoy!
