Today I am joined by my best friend Matthew Chandler (@matthewchandlerfitness on IG & YouTube) who is in the middle of a prep for a photoshoot. We speak about the harsh realities that comes with putting your body to the extremes it has to in order to be ready for the day.

Intro - Welcomed by Matthew Chandler (Chan, first guy to meet at Uni) - Brief hello and speak about uni days etc

Training at Uni - Alex and Chan always spoke about prepping. Real desire in bodybuilding and loved everything around it.

Evolving Since Uni - For Alex more functional and less bodybuilding style training, Chan bit of both but still real love for the sport.

Prep - Lets dive deep now. Why did Chan want to prep? 

Only decided around 5 weeks ago I would. Point to prove with gyms closed. Always wanted to compete. Short 11 week prep instead of 20. Testing physical and mental strength. How deep are you in now?

Biggest Challenges - Knee pain, low energy, lack of sleep and hunger. Time and dedication. 

The Best Bits - Winners mindset. Hunger & food control. Changes week on week. Hard work pays - 110% effort.

Biggest Lessons - Sleep & Digestion is king. Eating for function not taste (like a dog - same meals day on day). Importance of Micros. Supplements.

Importance of having a coach - Your first coach? Plug Ali. Accountability, plan, second opinion, keeps the head on shoulders. 

Plans for after this - Just the beginning or? Any shows to plan for 2021?
