The book The 12 Week Year has forever changed the way I look at my goals and my calendar. We all do it—we set those annual goals, only to tuck them away and bring them out toward the end of the year to see how we actually did. The author’s theory (and I agree) is that you get 12 months of work accomplished in 12 weeks. With that in mind, throw away the calendar. Set your three goals. Give yourself 12 weeks to accomplish your 12 month goals. (We’re not talking quarterly goals here.) When you get to the end of your 12 weeks, celebrate, take a break, go on vacation, reset, and think through your next 12 week year. Get the book, you won’t regret it.
