Mrs. Amy (Pitts) Knous holds a Master of Music Education with an emphasis in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University, a magna cum laude undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in Vocal Music Education, and Kodály certification from the University of Oklahoma. Amy is in her 9th year of teaching, with experience teaching 5th- 12th grade choirs, AP Music Theory, and music appreciation. Currently, Amy directs the 5th- 8th grade choirs and assistant directs the High School choir at Casady School in Oklahoma City. Before Casady, Amy taught at Edmond Sequoyah Middle School, Jenks High School, and Midwest City High School. While in Tulsa, she directed the Tulsa Youth Opera Singing Essentials class. Amy has served as the Junior High Chair of the Central Oklahoma Choral Directors Association, is a member of NAfME (National Association for Music Educators) and ACDA (American Choral Directors Association), and enjoys acting as clinician and adjudicator for choirs. Amy is very passionate about using games to teach music literacy, and presented on that topic at the OkMEA 2021 virtual conference, the 2021 NAfME Eastern Division Conference, and will be presenting at the SWACDA conference this March. In her free time, Amy enjoys gardening, running, taking too many pictures of her cat, and sharing her musical adventures and ideas on her instagram, @kodalyinthemiddle.
