Welcome to the African Podcast Series, the Pan-African Catholic Theology and Pastoral Network podcast series. In this episode, co-hosts, Sr. Ebere Amakwe and Nnaemeka Ali, O.M.I., receive Prof. Carlos Mendoza-Alvarez.

Fr Carlos is a Dominican and one of the directors of Concilium Theological Journal. He is a professor of Fundamental Theology at the Boston College of Theology.

Carlos is inspired by the Theology of Liberation, and is interested in the “African communitarian spirit, fight for justice, freedom, peace, truth and life.” His research interest is in the different expressions of “subjectivity”—how modern and postmodern people's emotions, feelings and practices are open to revelation and redemption experience.

He sees the need for the Church to improve deep “South-South” dialogue, which means listening to each other carefully — an essential aspect of our lifestyle lost because of colonialism. His dream for Africa and the entire humanity is to live in dignity rooted in people’s rich heritage —spiritual, social, and communal way of life.
