In today’s episode, I welcome Anna Wang.

Anna Wang is a mother, an advocate and the co-founder and vice president of Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN).  Twenty-eight years ago, her son Lawrence was diagnosed with autism.  In 1996, she became the co-founder and Vice President of Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) which currently serves more than 1000 families and 600 individuals on a daily basis.  Anna is well-known for designing innovative programs, building parents and community networks to support and advocate for the special needs community. She creates programs and opportunities to develop their abilities and talents. Anna spearheads the Dream Work and Housing Projects which empower individuals with special needs to lead a happy and healthy life as contributing citizens of society. This year she was appointed Human Relations Commissioner, City of Fremont.

Anna has received numerous awards and recognition, including “Profiles of Excellence” – ABC / KGO TV, “Hometown Hero, ” – NBC Bay Area TV and News Group, “API Outstanding Leader Award”, “Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Award for Excellence in Public Services” and Inspirational Woman Award from the California State Assembly, Asian Pacific American Democratic Caucus Lifetime Community Service Achievement Award.
