Thanks and well done Jo on a really great practice viva! not bad for taking a decent break from study!

This exam is a marathon and a lot of us will study for up to 12 months to be able to absorb the knowledge and structures we need to pass this 'quiz'.

In this episode I go through a Paediatric anaesthesia worst case scenario.

·      Neonate with pyloric stenosis – medical emergency

·      Heart murmur sees you for elective procedure

·      URTI for tonsillectomy

·      Anxious patient pre op

·      Emergence delirium in recovery

·      Bleeding tonsil presents back to ED with difficult airway

Pretty much everything you don't want in a Paeds case!

Neurodevelopmental outcome at 5 years of age after general anaesthesia or awake-regional anaesthesia in infancy (GAS): an international, multicentre, randomised, controlled equivalence trial

Interpretation
Slightly less than 1 h of general anaesthesia in early infancy does not alter neurodevelopmental outcome at age 5 years compared with awake-regional anaesthesia in a predominantly male study population.
