Gena Mayo is a Texan now living in Illinois. She has been married for 23 years and has eight children. Gena has homeschooled from the beginning. Three of her children are now in college, three in high school, one in middle school, and her youngest is in elementary.

 

Gena has been blogging at I Choose Joy (ichoosejoy.org) since 2005 about family, homeschooling, fashion, traveling, and more. She also started Music in Our Homeschool in 2015 to help all homeschool moms with tips, resources, and encouragement to include music in their homeschools.

 

Her popular website Learn.MusicinOurHomeschool.com has self-paced online courses for preschool through high school such as 15-Minute Music Lessons, A Year of Charlotte Mason Music Lessons, High School Music Appreciation courses, Great Hymns of the Faith, and so much more.

 

In her spare time, Gena loves reading, traveling, painting, and music-directing full-scale musicals such as The Little Mermaid, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Singing in the Rain.
