I first met Carrie at the Cornwall Running show in April 2022. Carrie was persuaded to do a short podcast recording during which she explained that she had returned to running in 2021 after several years absence and had decided in 2022 to take on four challenges. And not just any old challenges but four far from easy ones.

The Bodmin Beast marathon – a new event that would combine road and trail and in itself be a significant challenge

The South-West Traverse – 45 miles on the south-west coastal path following the same route as the Classic Quarter – and this year run on one of the hottest days of the year

The Black Rat – part of the Rosaland August Trails (RAT) event – 32 miles again all on the coastal path

The London Marathon – the big finale of Carrie's four challenges and the one where she also had to raise a significant amount of money for the Royal Cornwall Hospital

Carrie successfully completed all four challenges and in this episode of the Running 44@60 podcast she talks about each challenge and how it went, and let's not forget that several years ago Carrie donated a kidney, so part of her challenge was to prove that you can do these things with one kidney and to raise awareness of kidney donation.
