The Arc of Attrition is one of the foremost ultra running events on the UK calendar. It offers two distances – 100 miles and 50 miles.
The 100 mile event starts at midday on Friday in the Cornish fishing village of Coverack and winds its way along the coastal path via Lands End to the finish at Porthtowan on the north coast. Competitors have to reach the finish by midnight on Saturday.
The 50 mile event starts at 8:30 AM on Saturday at the iconic Minack Theatre and follows the same route to Porthtowan with competitors again having to finish by midnight on Saturday.
In this episode we meet four runners from the 50 event who had the full range of ultra running experiences from did not finish through to a gender winner.
If you are thinking of doing an ultra run or indeed this particular one then between them Richard Chynoweth,  Lucy Williams, James Skeplorn and Andy Williams offer their experiences as well as their tips and advice to help you have a successful run.
They also mention how important it is to have crew – people who will meet you on the route to ensure you have enough food and drink as well as changes of clothes and shoes if you need them.
